Description
The greatest discrepancy between the Bible creationist and the evolutionary theorist is their mutually exclusive beliefs about time. Among the most significant of these disparities is the disagreement over rocks and fossils, their age, the cause of their formation, and whether or not there is a good geological age system.
The rocks and fossils are the evidence, and the way we interpret the rocks and fossils influences our view of the earth. Moreover, both the evolutionist and the creationist study the same rocks and fossils but interpret them differently. So, what do the rocks mean?
Do rock layers reveal a gradual evolution of life over millions of years, or do they show a global catastrophe of short duration that took a little more than 4,000 years ago?
The Apostle Peter told us in II Peter 3:8 that God can use a global catastrophe and accomplish the geological work of a thousand years in a single day. In 1980, Mt. St. Helens erupted. It was a small volcano, only one fountain of the deep, but it was filmed and studied more than any volcano in the 20th century. It formed canyons, rock layers, and prepared a coal bed in just hours to days. It was a microcosm of the worldwide Flood.
